Lyocell Denim Dress- Are Your Pockets Worth Hiding In?

There's this thing about pockets that I've always loved. Not only does an article of clothing with pockets clothe you, but it also acts as a wearable purse. Not only that, but pockets make you feel secure. You could stand in a crowd and comfortably slide your hands into the material that is an escape from feeling awkward or twiddling your thumbs in public. You can stand there, as cool as a cucumber and feel like you have a place- that you're hidden.  On an unrelated note, you can also store a sandwich in a pocket if it's big enough (something I've joked about, especially when I owned a dress that was DEFINITELY capable of that feature).

Anyways, I think sometimes, like stuffing our hands in our pockets, we hide in our fear. We cover it up, like no one else can see it. We strategically place different elements of our lives over the fear in hopes to keep it hidden and make us seem like we're put together, like we don't have to carry around extra baggage-that stuff from our past that we hold onto like a death grip because we don't want people to know about it. What we don't realize is that it's weighing us down, it's making our pockets heavy and it's keeping us from moving forward. I saw this post on Instagram the other day from Steven Furtick that says "Your fear only becomes faith when you handle it." You don't need to shove your fears in your pocket.

God doesn't want that, he wants you to instead give them to him. You don't need to hide behind anything that you used to be, what used to consume you, or how you used to think of yourself. Instead, you can walk freely by letting go of what used to define you. It doesn't anymore. Let me repeat that. You can walk freely by letting go of what used to define you. Letting go IS handling fear. It's putting that thought in your mind that you don't want something anymore and you don't need it.

My hope is that this illustration of Lyocell Denim Dress and these words with leave you changed as you leave this page. That you will have the strength to move on from things that once hindered you. And I'm not just talking to you here, I'm in the same boat. I've let things of my past cripple me for too long and it isn't healthy to hold onto them. There is freedom from your past and hope for your future.
So next time you shove your hands in your pockets, think about this: are your pockets worth hiding in?
